  • Fashion Central:

History:

Fashion central was founded in 2007 and the website went live in November 2007. Initially it was launched as an online Ecommerce website. After about 6 months, the website was totally revamped and was reinvented as an online fashion and lifestyle magazine. In early 2011, the website added ecommerce as one of its services. The products offer include apparel, perfumes, lifestyle items and other fashion and lifestyle related accessories. The delivery options are available for countries across the globe with multiple payment options. The products on sale at Fashion Central are directly sourced from the known designers.

  • Herald: (Pakistan)

The Herald is a monthly magazine of politics and current affairs published in Karachi, Pakistan. The magazine is owned by Pakistan Herald Publications Limited (PHPL), which also publishes the Dawn group of Newspapers. The Herald has been responsible for producing many large and breaking stories since it started in 1969. It remains Pakistan’s most widely read monthly magazine, providing in-depth analysis, investigative reporting and an extensive coverage of current affairs. The magazine enjoys a wide circulation abroad, particularly among academics and Pakistani expatriate communities in the Middle East, United Kingdom and North America.

  • Humsay:

Humsay is a bi-monthly online media magazine of Pakistan based in karachi. It was first published in September 2007 from Karachi. The magazine covers the news about fashion, film and television industry. It is owned by the network company HUM Network Limited.

  • Mobile World:

With the re-emergence of transport industry in Pakistan during the late 1990’s it has become important to bring about a publication which would incorporate the ongoing developments and arising issues in the industry. In this situation, the magazine received wider recognition right from its launch in August 1999.

  • Newsline:

Newsline was started in July 1989 Razia Bhatti, a Pakistani journalist, was the founder of the magazine.

  • Pakistan and Gulf Economist:

Pakistan and Gulf Economist is a weekly magazine published from Karachi covering the business and economy of Pakistan. It was established in 1977 and has been regularly published ever since. Publisher is Irshad Ahmad Siddiqui. 

  • Pakistan Textile Journal:

Pakistan textile journal was founded in 1950. The publishing body is National Technical Press and it is published on a monthly basis.

  • Spider (Computer Magazine):

The magazine was launched at the end of the year 1998. Reader’s comments and criticism were a regular feature in the magazine since then. The monthly comprised cover stories and feature articles usually on the growth of the internet and how Information Technology is affecting Pakistanis. Spider folded in 2014.

History of Magazines

Urdu Magazines:

  • Monthly Aanchal:

The Monthly Aanchal is an urdu newspaper based in Pakistan. It is the oldest Magazine or Digest of Pakistan in continuous publication since its foundation in 1979. Its current group editor is Mushtaq Ahmed Qureshi.

  • Akhbar e Jahan:

It is a weekly urdu language news and entertainment magazine published in Karachi, Pakistan owned by Jang group of Newspapers. The magazine was established in 1967. The weekly is also distributed in the United Arab Emirates.

  • Audio Video Satellite:

It is a monthly news magazine published from Karachi, Sindh, Pakistan. It was published in Urdu language.

  • Computing:

It is a monthly magazine published in Pakistan in the urdu language. The first issue was published in February 25, 2007. From the first issue, computing caught the attention of IT magazine readers in Pakistan. As computing is written in the local language, it has more potential to reach Pakistani’s IT community than English IT magazines available in the country.

  • Family Magazine:

It is a weekly magazine published from Lahore, Punjab, Pakistan. It provides news concerning women health, beauty, fashion and jewellery. It is part of Nawa i waqt Newspaper group of Pakistan.

  • Jadeed Adab:

Jadeed Adab was founded in 1978 from Khanpur, Pakistan by Haider Qureshi at the cost of his spouse’s jewellery which he sold one after month until all were sold and the magazine ceased to be published. Its editor-in-chief is the poet and prose writer Haider Qureshi, and honorary editor Nazar Khaliq and adviser Shafiq Ahmad are also in staff. It is published from Germany, Pakistan and India, and it is available both in print form on the internet. After several years the magazine was restarted from Germany. Jadeed Adab remains the only regularly published urdu literary magazine.

  • Nigar (Magazine):

Nigar was the brainchild of Ilyas Rashidi, also known as the Pioneer of Film Journalism in Pakistan. Ilyas Rashidi acquired experience in entertainment journalism through his association with Umer Azad (his older brother) and his daily newspaper Anjum, which had shifted its offices from Delhi to Karachi in 1947. Ilyas had been inspired by Filmfare magazine and thus purchased a children’s magazine Monthly Nigar from his friend Ibne Hassan Nigar, and rebranded it as a weekly film magazine. In 1957, the Nigar Awards were founded, as an extension of Nigar.

The magazine has news and feature articles relating to Pakistani cinema, recently Pakistani dramas as well. The magazine includes extensive photography of actors and actresses.

  • Pakistani Post:

It is a bilingual monthly magazine based in Pakistan. It is published in Urdu and English from Karachi. The magazine is distributed throughout Pakistan and abroad include Middle East, Europe, North America, Australia, Far-East and South Asia. It targets political leaders, business executives, lawyers, academics and housewives.

  • Rida:

Rida is one of the Lives discussed in Sufism as well as early Islamic belief. The term “rida” literally means ‘the fact of being pleased or contented; contentment, approval’. In religious context, this term is interpreted as satisfaction or perfect contentment with God’s will or decree. It is also frequently given as a male first name in Shi’a Muslim communities, however it is also a male name given in the Arab Christian community, and in the Druze community. Sometimes alternately spelled: Ridha, after the eighth Shi’a Imam, Ali ibn Musa al-Rida (Ali ar-ridha).
